Dear Oakley House Parents and Guardians
Oakley House won this year’s House Song competition! The girls spent the last 3 weeks learning, practising and polishing their version of Black Magic by Little Mix and I was so proud of their performance on Tuesday. This is the only competition that every single student in School takes part in and it is a very competitive field. Alvina, Trissie and Joyce produced a fabulous arrangement and Masha joined Joyce, leading the rehearsals and conducting the whole House. Alvina led by example as usual and this was Trissie’s second win as piano accompanist. Yelly was a formidable dance captain and, as the judge declared, Oakley had a bit of everything:
It was a fantastic end to a very busy term.
Ellie Chow impressed us with her beautiful dancing at the Sustainability concert at the start of the month:
Girls have taken part in Junior House badminton and Senior House hockey:
Tutor groups have also been very generous preparing their shoeboxes for children in need before Christmas:
Team A were rewarded with a McDonalds lunch for winning the photo competition earlier in the term:
And the whole House enjoyed a little lie in on Monday and breakfast in house as a thank you for their charity run last Sunday.
Last Sunday 65 Oakley girls and 3 staff warmed up to take part in our 5th annual charity run/jog/walk around the School grounds. It was a great event, supported by the Headmaster and other members of our community.
We were raising money for this year’s charity, Wonder Foundation. The Monitors chose this small charity because of its work with girls’ and women’s education around the world. It is great that we can see how privileged we are at 91风流楼凤and push ourselves out of our comfort zones in an event such as this. Thank you for your donations so far. If you wish to show your support of the charity and get us closer to our target, please follow this link:
I wish you all a lovely half term with your daughters and look forward to welcoming all 76 girls back to Oakley in November.
